Now in its eighteenth fabulous year, the Summer School in Film making offers intensive teaching in all aspects of film production on campus at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. Each day or session is taught by Australia's leading film industry practitioners in the their area of expertise.

The course, open to aspiring filmmakers of all ages, is designed to cover the essential skills, basic knowledge and industry insight needed to make films, knowledge that would normally require years of experience to acquire, and will equip participants with the confidence, knowledge and skills to start a career in film or television and translate their own ideas and visions to the screen.

More exciting than a film festival, more real than film itself, you will begin to understand the enormous skill and energy that goes into that smoothly finished product on the screen.

The teaching course "From Script to Screen", can be taken in full (20 days including the 2 day Documentary Filmmaking course, Cinematography Intensive, Writing Days and Nadia Tass Directing Masterclass), in part (14 days includes all Script to Screen days necessary to understand all the elements of making a film) or as an introductory course (12 days) or participants can choose their own days and make up their own course/s.

Extra courses at the 2012 summer school are the 2 day Documentary Course on the weekend of Jan 28 and 29, and, new this year, Writing Short Films on Jan 23 and 24, 2012. The "5 Day Steadicam Intensive" is on hold until we have enough participants so ring or email us to register your interest.

Writing for Television is back again in 2012, along with Making a Good Script Great, and we have an extra Cinematography day for even more hands-on experience on state-of-the-art professional equipment. Back
